Gustave Caillebotte, 1848-1894, was a French painter, member and patron of Impressionists. He help fund Impressionist exhibitions and support his fellow artists and friends (including Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, and Camille Pissarro among others). Caillebotte is best known for his oil painting of urban Paris, such as The Europe Bridge, and Paris Street; Rainy Day. Forty of Gustave Caillebotte paintings are now held by the Musée d'Orsay. His Man on a Balcony, Boulevard Haussmann, sold for more than US$14.3 million in 2000.
