Two centuries after his death, Hals received a number of 'posthumous' students such as Claude Monet, Édouard Manet, Daubigny, Whistler, Gustave Courbets, who have delved deeply into the Frans Hals paintings. In 1908 the National Gallery paid 25,000 pounds for a large family group. A primary collection of Hals art is displayed in the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem.
